Why I do this
My story
I grew up in Colorado, spent years away — including a career as an aircraft mechanic — and moved back in 2012 looking for a second act. After a bit of wandering, I realized I genuinely liked helping people with insurance, got licensed, and started out helping folks under 65 with their health coverage.
Then in 2014 my father hurt his back — and discovered, the hard way, that his Medicare plan left him on the hook for the whole bill. He called me for help, and I had to admit I didn't know much about Medicare yet. So I sat down with my parents and a Medicare agent to sort it out.
What I learned floored me: the plan they'd chosen months earlier was completely wrong for them, and almost no one can navigate this maze alone. That was the moment. I became a fully independent Medicare broker, and helping people get this decision right has been my focus ever since. The first time someone thanked me for it, I knew I'd found my calling.
